Relationships & Sex Education (RSE)

  • Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) is a crucial part of students' emotional, social, and cultural development. It helps young people understand:

    • Healthy relationships

    • Sexual health and well-being

    • Diversity and personal identity

    • Consent, boundaries, and respect

    • Online safety and managing relationships

RSE is not about promoting sexual activity but rather equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make informed choices about their well-being and relationships.

  • Following the UK government’s review of RSE in England, it is now a statutory requirement for all schools in England and Wales to include Relationships and Sex Education as part of the curriculum.

At Changing Lives Independent School, we believe that promoting health and well-being is essential to a well-rounded education. Our RSE programme is delivered as part of Personal, Social, Health & Economic (PSHE) education and is designed to:

    Encourage self-awareness and confidence
Support students in making safe, informed decisions
    Promote respect, inclusivity, and equality
Equip students with the skills to build healthy relationships
Ensure students understand personal safety, online risks, and where to seek support

  • Our age-appropriate and inclusive RSE curriculum covers key topics, including:

    Relationships & Respect

    • Different types of relationships (friendships, family, intimate relationships, and interactions with strangers)

    • Consent, boundaries, and managing conflict

    • Diversity and identity (including LGBTQ+ awareness)

    • Recognising and addressing harassment and abuse

    Online Safety & Legal Awareness

A deeper understanding of personal identity and diversity
Practical skills to manage academic, personal, and social life positively
Awareness of mental health and emotional well-being

By providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment, we ensure that students feel empowered to make informed choices about their relationships and well-being—now and in the future.
