Who we are

Changing Lives Independent School is a specialist SEN independent school registered with the Department for Education (URN 149213). This notice covers visitors to our website. Our full suite of data protection and privacy policies covering pupils, families and staff is available on our Policies page, and paper copies are available free of charge from the school office.

What information we collect

• Enquiry and visit forms — your name, contact details, your child's name and any information you choose to share about their needs, so that we can respond to your enquiry.
• Share Your Story submissions — testimonials you choose to send us, published with first names only and with consent.
• Job applications — details you provide when applying for a role or sending a speculative application.
• School meal payments — handled through our parent payment portal. Card payments are processed securely by our payment provider; we never see or store your card details.
• Technical data — information such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, collected through cookies when you browse the site.

How we use your information

• To respond to enquiries and arrange school visits;
• To progress admissions conversations, including liaising with your local authority where you ask us to;
• To consider job applications;
• To publish testimonials, with consent;
• To understand how the website is used and improve it;
• To measure the effectiveness of our advertising.

Where you share information about a child's special educational needs in an enquiry, we treat it with particular care, use it only to deal with your enquiry, and do not use it for marketing.

Cookies and third-party services

This website is built on Squarespace, which sets functional and analytics cookies. We also use Google advertising and conversion tags and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to measure our advertising, and some pages embed YouTube videos. These providers may set their own cookies. You can manage cookie preferences using the cookie banner on this site and through your browser settings.

Sharing your information

We never sell your information. We share it only with the service providers above (who process it on our behalf), with your local authority where that is a necessary part of an admissions conversation you have asked for, and where the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected, in line with our data retention schedule. Enquiry details that do not lead to a placement are deleted after a reasonable period.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you;
• Ask us to correct inaccurate information;
• Ask us to delete your information;
• Object to, or ask us to restrict, our use of your information;
• Withdraw consent at any time where our use is based on consent.
