Safeguarding & Visitor Policy
At Changing Lives Independent School, the safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority. We have a dedicated Safeguarding Team that ensures all students feel safe, supported, and able to fully engage in their education.
Our team works closely with Children’s Social Care and other specialist agencies to provide quality interventions where students and their families require additional support both in and out of school.
We are committed to offering emotional, physical, and welfare support to all students, ensuring that they have access to the resources they need to thrive in a safe and secure environment.
Operation Encompass
📌 Changing Lives Independent School is a proud participant in Operation Encompass, a joint initiative between Greater Manchester Schools and Greater Manchester Police.
What is Operation Encompass?
Operation Encompass is designed to provide early reporting to schools of any domestic abuse incidents that occur outside school hours, which may affect a child’s well-being and learning.
If a domestic abuse incident occurs involving a student, the school receives a secure and confidential notification from the police.
This allows us to provide immediate support to the child in a way that is discreet, sensitive, and reassuring.
Our trained staff ensure that trusted adults are available to offer help if needed, while also keeping a watchful, supportive presence for the child.
Our Key Adult
📌 At Changing Lives Independent School, our Key Adult for Operation Encompass is:
🔹 Mark Chapman
If a child is affected, our Key Adult will:
✔ Ensure that a trusted staff member is available to provide support.
✔ Keep a careful, silent watch to ensure the child has a calm and secure school day.
✔ Liaise with children’s services and the police, if required, to further safeguard the child’s well-being.
✔ Share information with relevant agencies, if necessary, to prevent harm or risk to the child.
