Small Animal Course

Our small animal course is a hands-on, engaging programme designed specifically for students in our SEN school, offering a supportive and inclusive environment to explore the world of animal care.

This course gives learners the opportunity to develop practical skills and knowledge in:

  • Animal Care: Learn how to safely handle, feed, groom, and care for a variety of small animals, promoting confidence and responsibility.

  • Animal Welfare Law: Understand the basic principles of animal welfare legislation, including the rights and protections animals are entitled to.

  • Animal Biology: Explore how animals' bodies work, including their anatomy, life cycles, and behaviours in a way that's accessible and engaging.

  • Animal Rescue: Discover how rescue centres operate and the importance of giving animals a second chance, with potential visits or links to local rescues.

Through interactive lessons and real-life experience, our students gain valuable life skills such as empathy, routine, and teamwork—while also building a sense of achievement and connection with the natural world.

This course is perfect for learners with a passion for animals and is delivered at a pace and level suited to individual needs.
